Challenging behaviors will arise, especially in those with a dementia diagnosis, but our goal is to find out what is causing the behavior and not just turn to giving a medication. In many cases, medications can actually decrease the quality of life for the resident and can have serious impacts on their safety. This course will focus on how we can better support our residents by understanding the effects and potential dangers of giving psychotropic medications, as well as understand the regulations.
